Farmgate Sales – Fall Season

We are open for farm-gate sales on Fridays & Saturdays during the fall season. Look for “Produce for Sale” signs on Sawmill Road & Snyder’s Flats Road. If signs are not up, we are not available . We look forward to having you drop in.

Planning the Gardens

Now is the time I am pouring over the seed catalogs looking for new vegetables to trial and new varieties to bring additional diversity to our CSA boxes and restaurant chefs. Possible veggy trials may include; pole beans, radicchio (again), lemon balm. Possible new varieties of hot peppers,  garlic (softneck), tomatoes (heirloom). Dale

Bees are loving this summer

In the two years we have been tending bees and their hives, I can’t believe how quickly they are packing in the honey. Let’s hope they keep it up.

Typically the month of August is when we experience the “dog days of summer”. So far we have had a mixed bag of moderately warm and overcast rainy days. When is the heat coming ?  Not complaining ….. moisture is good in limited quantities.

Feeling the Itch

There’s nothing like getting your hands dirty to bring on the itch to get going with the gardens. As of last week the leeks, peppers and parsley are planted into seeding flats in the greenhouse. Can’t wait to see them poke their heads through the soiless mix.
